After three posts focusing on Italian Renaissance art, I have decided to get into the world of the lesser known Italian Baroque art. The name of this painting is "Venus and Cupid", and it was done circa 1700 by Sebastiano Ricci (1659-1734). It is an oil painting on canvas.
To some art enthusiasts, Italian Baroque art is symbolized by early figures such as Caravaggio, but I thought I would touch upon late Baroque art since late Baroque music such as that by Bach, Handel, and the Italian Vivaldi is very well-known.
I also like the painting due to the pairing of Cupid and Venus, who are considered the Roman god and goddess of love.
