This is a painting by Georges Seurat, called, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. This was painted in 1884 and it is an example of pointillism. He spent over two years painting this focusing mainly on the landscape of the park. He would go and sit in the park and make numerous sketches of the various figures in order to perfect their form. I chose this painting mainly because I have seen this painting many times in my life and always wondered about it. It stands out to me because of how clear everything is, and that is what Seurat was aiming for when he decided to use the form of pointillism.
