This picture is called Study for 24th Street Intersection and was made in 1978 by the artist Wayne Thiebaud. The media used was graphite on paper. One reason I chose to post this was that in the black and white version in the textbook shows that the artist used cross-hatching to create the value in the picture, which was a topic covered recently in class. I like the picture also because it depicts a street in San Francisco, which are well known, but it seems to overexaggerate the steepness of the streets.
