The David
For my first blog I had to post The David. This has to be one of my favorite pieces of art. After going to Florence last fall and seeing this piece of art right in front of me it was something special. To look up at a 17 foot marble sculpture, and see the incredible detail that was put into it was amazing. The detail of the body was overwhelming every vein in the body was accounted for. Really something special to be able to see face to face. The David was a sculpture made by Michelangelo during the Renaissance area. It was created between 1501 and 1504. The sculpture was suppose to represent the biblical figure David, from the story of David and Goliath. The detail of the eyes were also something special. Today the David is in a museum and has been replaced by a copy that stands in the middle of Florence where the David was original held. The differences in detail between the statues is amazing.
