This picture is titled The Colosseum: Birds Eye View and was made by the artist Giovanni Battista Piranesi in 1776. The picture was created by etching and engraving. The drawing was part of a series by Piranesi called the Vedute di Roma. I found the picture interesting because it is drawn from the birds eye view in the 1700's, before cameras were around, so it had to be done from memory. I also like the amount of detail in the drawing, for example the brick on the outside can be seen.
